By setting a bold ambition to strengthen our impact and expand our reach, our five-year strategy will build on our unique service model and ensure we deliver even better outcomes for young Australians in need.

In many ways, the need has never been greater. Children and young people aged 12 to 24 make up a staggering 23% of Australia’s total homeless population, according to the 2021 Census. Disconnection from school is on the rise among children and young people experiencing disadvantage, and growing numbers of First Nations young people are in need of support.

Here’s how we’ll meet these challenges.

Our ambition

Over the five years to 2028, we will:

    • Strengthen our holistic and evidence-based homelessness, housing, education and First Nations services and programs
    • Support 60% more children and young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness to build a positive future
    • Purposefully collaborate and advocate for better outcomes for children and young people

Our strategic priorities

The key themes of our five-year strategy are to strengthen our impact and expand our reach.

We’ll achieve this by focussing on five strategic priorities:

  1. Strengthening our response to children and young people by enhancing our unique service model
  2. Expanding our reach in homelessness services
  3. Increasing participation in education and training
  4. Growing our impact with First Nations young people
  5. Growing our safe and affordable housing options for young people experiencing homelessness

Our impact

To achieve our ambition to positively impact the lives of more children and young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, we’ll be investing in five strategic enablers.

  1. Growing sustainable funding
  2. Strengthening our people and culture
  3. Building impact measurement
  4. Growing our influence through advocacy and our brand
  5. Optimising organisational capability
