Thank you for lighting the path to a brighter future for young people in need this Christmas.
After Ellie’s mum died when she was just 14, her father’s anger and abuse became unstoppable. Just as she was dealing with the trauma of losing her mother – the rock in her life – her dad told her to leave.
“It was nearly Christmas. The first Christmas I was going to spend without Mum. But Dad told me to get out and never come back. That was the last time I ever saw him. I will never forget how that felt.”
Like so many other young people, Ellie fell into the dark space of homelessness because of domestic violence and family breakdown.
Alone and traumatised, she had no idea where to turn. Eventually she found safety and support with Youth Off The Streets.
