A gift in your Will can empower the next generation

A gift in your Will – also known as a bequest – is a wonderful way to change the lives of vulnerable young people beyond your own lifetime.

Leave a home for those growing up without one

Creating a Will lets you decide what will happen to your estate and assets once you are gone. It’s also a chance to leave a gift and make a lasting impact on future generations.

For most of us, home is our sanctuary – a place where we feel safe, loved and a sense of belonging.

But for the 43,000 children and young people who face homelessness each year, a safe haven like this is an unimaginable reality. For them, the comfort of home has been replaced by fear, uncertainty and instability.

Writing your Will can make sure your family is looked after once you’re gone. And it can be the safety net for young people who’ve never had one. By leaving a gift – or bequest – to us, you can give children and young people the safety, support and education they all deserve.

Meet Michael and Yvonne

Michael and Yvonne, who have five children and seven grandchildren, have decided to include Youth Off The Streets in their Will.

“We believe that we are fortunate with a good life, and we want to share this to help others who aren’t so fortunate. We have experienced challenges such as mental illness but at the end of the day we all come together with respect and love.”

They shared a story about their grandson, who recently said he has “three mums” – his mum, his gran and his nan – because they all love him. When they heard this, Michael and Yvonne thought about how many children and young people have never experienced this type of unconditional love.

“We see our legacy as passing on love and respect to our children and grandchildren. One could interpret our legacy gift to Youth Off The Streets as love given to these young people. We want to make an imprint of love where there was none.”

Their words truly capture what legacy giving means. It’s not just about money – it’s about extending the love, safety and belonging that has shaped your own life to young people who have never known it. These gifts are so much more than simply donations. They’re investments in hope, healing and human potential that continue to pay dividends long after the giver has passed on.

Turn your legacy into their lifeline

By leaving just 1% of your estate as a gift in your Will, you can give vulnerable young people a safe place to turn when they have nowhere else to go. Your generous bequest could:

  • Provide safe spaces where children and young people can begin to heal.
  • Fund trauma-informed care that helps young people rebuild trust, confidence and emotional resilience.
  • Support specialised education through our six independent high schools designed for their unique needs.
  • Create pathways to independence with life skills training, employment support and transitional housing.

Your legacy will grow in value. With housing prices continuing to rise, even a small percentage of your estate could have a transformational impact on future generations.

Ready to leave a lasting legacy?

Leaving a gift in your Will is a simple, three-step process:

  1. Determine how much you want to provide for your loved ones after you’re gone
  2. If you want to recognise us in your Will, consider if you would like to leave a specific sum of money, a percentage of the value of your estate, or an asset or item of particular value.

A lasting legacy

“I have so much respect for Youth Off The Streets. I first volunteered with their Street Walk program and it opened my eyes to just how tough it is for some kids. For me, it’s a privilege to be part of the Youth Off The Streets family by leaving a gift in my Will. I know it will be put to good use.”
