Volunteer

Whether you’re giving your skills, experience or time, volunteering in one of our services, schools or programs is a rewarding way to help children and young people in need achieve their best.

Volunteers are integral to the success of Youth Off The Streets. They also show children and young people that there are people out in the community who care about them.

Being a volunteer is a fun and meaningful way to become more involved in your community. It also allows you to use your experience or professional skills to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in need.

Our wonderful volunteers come from all walks of life and there is a volunteering opportunity to suit everyone – from supporting a young person to develop life skills through our mentoring program, helping young people learn at our independent high schools, preparing food, or supporting the work of our main office teams.

What you need to know

To be a volunteer with us, you need to be aged 18 or over, hold a current Working With Children Check and complete our induction process, which may include a National Police Check. Our Volunteer team here at Youth Off The Streets will guide you through this process.

Youth Off The Streets is a member of the Centre for Volunteering, the NSW peak volunteering body. This membership demonstrates our commitment to best practice in volunteering and volunteer management.

Meet Betty

I met one of my closest friends while volunteering at one of the Youth Off The Streets schools making lunches for the kids. We both find it so satisfying spending time with the kids and being part of their journey towards becoming empowered young leaders of their community.
