APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2020 NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ARE NOW CLOSED.
The National Scholarship Program celebrates the talents and strengths of young people across Australia who exhibit extraordinary promise – but who lack the support and resources to fulfill their potential.
Every year over 20 young people throughout Australia are awarded Youth Off The Streets scholarships. Recipients are granted funds to assist them pursue further education and training – and work towards a positive future.
Father Riley’s vision of the National Scholarship Program is to bring together combined resources, corporate social responsibility and promote community engagement with young people who have become disconnected or are at risk of becoming marginalised. The Youth Off The Streets National Scholarship Program coordinates this commitment and support in order to make a real difference and lasting effect.
WHAT DOES A SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT RECEIVE?
Recipients receive $6,000 towards educational or training goals over two years and can be used to pay for some course fees and support costs such as equipment, uniforms, textbooks and stationary.
Staff assist scholarship recipients with difficulties they may face such as budgeting expenses, housing, employment, healthcare, counselling and other service referrals.
Each recipient is matched with an individual mentor who provides guidance and support during their scholarship.
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY
Travel and accommodation costs are covered so that recipients can attend the National Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Sydney, a formal of acknowledgement their achievement.
Who can apply?
- Students aged 16 to 21 inclusive as at 20 September on the year of nomination.
- Citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand (evidence will be required).
- Students with a clear need for financial assistance.
- Students studying in Australia for the two year period of the program.
All successful applicants convey their genuine talent, ability and determination in any education or training course, including (but not limited to):
- Academic skills
- Visual or performing arts
- Trade skills
