Craig Davis College, Wollongong

“If you can see it, you can be it” – Craig Davis College offers individualised learning in a world-class environment.

Established in 2013Craig Davis College is a coeducational specialist school supporting students in Years 9–12.

In 2025, the college relocated from its original location in Cordeaux Heights to its current location on the Innovation Campus, University of Wollongong. The college offers a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who are at risk of disengaging or have already disengaged from mainstream education.

The dedicated team of educators is committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to pursue their Record of School Achievement (RoSA), Higher School Certificate (HSC) or transition into further education, training or employment.

As a Special Assistance School, Craig Davis College takes pride in its innovative and student-centred approach. It empowers learners who have previously struggled to find their place in traditional educational settings, offering them a renewed opportunity to thrive.

Within a nurturing and supportive environment, students are encouraged to re-engage with their education and realise their potential.

Since coming to Craig Davis College, it’s been a second home, a second family, a safe space for all… each teacher is extraordinary at teaching and unique as a person. I love Craig Davis College.

In addition to the guidance provided by the school manager and teaching staff, student wellbeing is holistically supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising a provisional psychologist, school counsellor, student support youth worker and, where appropriate, a First Nations student support youth worker.

Collaboration with University of Wollongong

Craig Davis College’s location within the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus creates unique opportunities for collaboration and growth. Being part of this vibrant precinct allows us to build strong partnerships with a range of services onsite  including childcare centres, fitness facilities, cafés and even a future aged care centre. These connections enable our students to access real-world work experience without leaving the safety and familiarity of their school environment.

“We want our young people to feel safe and feel like they belong and this will allow us to build that on a site that has other opportunities for them, says Aaron McDonald, Principal – South Cluster schools.

One standout partnership is with the university’s vocational unit, where tertiary students design and deliver personalised exercise programs for our students as part of their studies. This collaboration creates mutually beneficial outcomes  enhancing the learning experience for both the university students and our young people.

A word from the principal

As educators, we carry a responsibility that goes far beyond academic outcomes. Our role is to help shape young people into resilient, capable, and compassionate adults who can thrive in a rapidly changing world.

For at-risk youth especially, strong support structures are essential. Literacy and numeracy are the non-negotiables, the gateways to employment, independence, and opportunity. Without these foundations, too many remain caught in cycles of disadvantage. At the same time, research is clear: life skills, character education, and experiential learning are equally critical in supporting long-term success.
