Taking Action Creating Change Together (TACCT) program

Youth Off The Streets provides practical domestic violence training for youth workers, caseworkers, psychologists and other professionals, helping them respond with confidence, compassion and sensitivity in their work with young people.

Launched in May 2024, TACCT is an innovative training workshop that aims to enhance support for children and young people impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV). It applies a trauma-informed approach, putting the lived experiences of children and young people at the centre of practices and support interventions.

TACCT was developed in recognition that youth workers are often among the professionals most likely to encounter young people who have experienced, are at risk of, or are currently experiencing DFSV. The training aims to strengthen practitioners’ understanding of DFSV and equip them with practical, trauma-informed approaches to better support young people.

Importantly, TACCT was developed in consultation with our Youth Advisory Group, drawing on the lived expertise of young people with experiences of both youth homelessness and DFSV.

Since its launch, TACCT has been delivered across New South Wales to 600 youth workers and case managers, with 97% reporting feeling confident responding to disclosures after training (up from an initial 56%).

TAACT Program 2026

In response to participant feedback and ongoing sector demand, we have refreshed and streamlined TACCT to offer both our original in-depth face-to-face program and a condensed online version.

This approach allows us to maintain the practical, trauma-informed content that participants have consistently valued, while increasing accessibility for practitioners who may be unable to travel. The online delivery option will also enable participation from practitioners across Australia, creating opportunities for interstate colleagues to access the training.

Whether you are new to TACCT or looking to strengthen and refresh your DFSV practice knowledge, the revised training offers flexible learning pathways to suit a range of professional and organisational needs.
