Please help children and young people facing homelessness alone
Every day, young people like Alex turn to Youth Off The Streets for help.
Forced to leave a violent home, 17-year-old Alex* was on the streets and out of options when he was offered a bed in a homeless shelter for men.
Surrounded by adults – many of them intimidating and aggressive – Alex hid in his room. He was too afraid to go to sleep in case someone broke in and tried to hurt him.
This is the shocking reality for many young people forced into homelessness and without anyone to protect and guide them.
Sadly, almost 90% of the young people we help tell us that family and domestic violence was the main reason or a factor in becoming homeless. And more than half of the young people who come to us have significant mental health issues arising from the hardship and trauma they’ve experienced.
We need your help to give children and young people like Alex a safe place to stay and the long-term support they need to rebuild their lives. This includes tailored casework, mental health support and life skills programs based on their individual experiences, needs and goals.
Donate now and your generous gift will help us reach the growing number of young people in need. Together, we can help them find safety and create the future they deserve.
Thank you.
Thank you for making a difference
As Youth Off The Streets’ Founder, Father Chris Riley, once said:
“I am proud that we are an organisation that will never give up. We will never stop advocating for youth and we will never stop offering our nation’s most vulnerable the chance for a brighter future.”
Thank you for donating to help young Australians recover from trauma, break the cycle of disadvantage and build a better future for themselves.
