On Saturday, our Hunter Valley Outreach hosted a skate competition for local (and non-local) young people to show off their skills at Margaret Johns Skate Park, Kurri Kurri.
We had plenty of little shredders, gnarly dudes and all round skate/bmx/scooter enthusiasts carving up the park like a Sunday roast. Ultimately the day was incredibly successful and despite the heat and wind, everyone had a great time.
Our juniors on BMX’s and scooters showed the crowd the fresh new stylings of the modern millennia getting some amazing air for such young troopers. The advanced riders launched themselves into the stratosphere doing flips, spins and turns all while being buffeted by the intense Hunter Valley winds.
There was a plethora of great prizes to be won. From scooter and BMX equipment to clothing and stickers, we made sure that every kid on the day had something cool to take home.
A special mention goes out to the three local heroes that competed in all events on the day.
At Youth Off The Streets, we hold events like these for the local young people. We want to see everyone coming together to have some fun, grab a feed, meet new friends and youth workers and just all round have a good time. Bringing the community together is what we do best and we look forward to hosting this event again next year!
Of course we couldn’t hold such an exciting and fantastic event without our wonderful sponsors so a big thank-you to: Avoka, Colony BMX, Crisp Scooters, District, Division, Fiend, GRIT, Mankind, Phoenix, Skate Ape, Skate Connection, Slam Factory and United Reborn for being part of the event.
