On Wednesday 9 May we held our Scholarship Celebration Night to share the successes of many years of supporting young people in achieving their academic goals.
The Youth Off The Streets National Scholarship Program began in 2004 as a means of providing young people with the financial stability to ensure studies can remain a priority throughout formative years. Our program currently enrols 20 young people every year from all across Australia to not only provide financial assistance but a mentor for each recipient.
Young people spanning several years of scholarships attended the event, and many of those that couldn’t be in Sydney sending video messages to show their appreciation and share their stories of growth since receiving the scholarship. David Koch, a long-time supporter of Youth Off The Streets and in particular the National Scholarship Program, emceed the evening, interviewing our recipients to understand how our program helped them individually.
Our recipients showed off (not so hidden) talents with performances and speeches that inspired the crowd and reminded everyone of the positive impact this program has. The evening was rounded out by a speech from Father Chris Riley followed by the opportunity recipients, mentors, scholarship sponsors, staff and Youth Off The Streets supports to mingle.
Special thinks to KPMG who provided the venue for the event, and big thanks to all involved in the National Scholarship Program past and present.
