Yesterday our riders pushed through the half way mark of the 1000km journey from Sydney to Surfers Paradise. The 151.6km ride from North Haven to Nambucca Heads had our young people and volunteers riding up some challenging hills, but the effort was worth the reward.
Many of the volunteers on the ride have mentioned how inspired and motivated they feel by the young people of Youth Off The Streets. They are working together, communicating on the road and they are even helping some of our volunteers up some of the challenging hills. It is spectacular to watch the young people sit at other tables during dinner and engage with the various volunteers and taking the time to get to know them. The young people are in good spirits and have really battled through many mental breakdowns but should be commended on their perseverance and determination to not let their pain or fear overcome them. They’re excited and motivated to get through the next 3 days as a strong pack together. Never have we seen our young people be so cohesive on the road.
They should all really be so proud of themselves.
