The winter school holidays are a good time for the young people from Youth Off The Streets to relax and take a break. This year Youth Off The Streets took six of our program attendees from Holroyd to ‘chill out’ in the snow.
The group was based in Jindabyne and spent two days shredding the slopes of Thredbo. Five of the six young people had never been to the snow and were very impressive in how well they picked up the challenge of skiing for the first time.
Youth Off The Streets staff witnessed the group challenge and push themselves out of their comfort zones by skiing some of the more daunting slopes.
The week continued after the skiing session, with the group traveling to Questacon (the National Science and Technology Centre) to experience exciting experiments, exhibitions and interactive activities. A visit to the Australian War Memorial also provided a humbling look back into our nation’s involvement in war history.
Youth Off The Streets staff were happy to organise and carry out this activity. Overall, the young people had a great time and were commended by a local restaurant owner for their mature attitude whilst dining.
Congratulations to the staff for organising such a successful excursion, and well done to the young people for embracing the challenge.
