For the first time in Youth Off The Streets’ history, the annual open day will be held at Macquarie Fields (86 Parliament Road) on 29 July starting at 10:00am. The annual open day is an event where members of the public can come and get an inside look into the 35 services offered by Youth Off The Streets.
Youth Off The Streets is inviting the community to hear about what the work their services offer and what they’ve done over the last year. Each service will set up an area and deliver a presentation about what they do. The range of services delivering presentations includes: homeless services, education services – including schools and scholarships, outreach services, Aboriginal services and many more.
Father Chris Riley, CEO and Founder at Youth Off The Streets, says that has been doing great work in the community and it’s an excellent chance to see the results of what they do.
“This is the only time where people can see all our services in one place and get to interact with them. We’ve done some great things this year and it would be wonderful to see the community there to celebrate with us. More importantly, those that attend will get a glimpse of our future plans and campaigns” he says.
Father Chris Riley will be at the event and it is a rare chance to meet Australia’s fourth most trusted person. In addition to that, community members will be given an exclusive opportunity to contribute to Youth Off The Streets’ #laceitup campaign that begins a week later from 3 August to 9 August. Community members can get their hands on some blue laces and take some photos to share with social media and help raise awareness for homeless young people.
The Youth Off The Streets Open Day will be held at the Koch Centre For Youth and Learning. Come to 86 Parliament Road, Macquarie Fields on Wednesday 29 July from 10:00am. Youth Off The Streets Mission:
Helping young people to discover greatness within, by engaging, supporting and providing opportunities to encourage and facilitate positive life choices.
About Youth Off The Streets:
Youth Off The Streets is a community organisation working for young people who are homeless, drug dependent and recovering from abuse. We support these young people as they work to turn their lives around and overcome immense personal traumas such as neglect and physical, psychological and emotional abuse.
Since opening in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross to a major youth specific agency providing a wide range of services offering a full continuum of care.
It is our goal that these young people will leave our care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full or part time job in hand.
