Team Trev paddles the Murray

May 17, 2015

On Saturday 11 April a group of passionate canoeists, and Youth Off The Streets supporters on a paddling expedition down the Murray with a goal to raise over $60,000 for young disadvantaged Australians.

Leading the way was Trevor Farrell a 64 year old long-time supporter. Trevor has been running canoeing and camping trips for the kids in our services or the past five years – and has been dreaming about organising a large scale fundraising trip for some time.

And what a trip it was…the team of 15 paddled an impressive 2,000kms from Yarrawonga to the mouth of the Murray in Goolwa SA.

There to welcome the team seven days into the adventure in Echuca was Father Chris Riley. It was a special day for all involved. Echuca s Father Riley’s home town, so it was a homecoming as well as a celebration for a mammoth feat.
