Brad Fittler has been a great supporter of Youth Off The Streets ever since he began volunteering and participated in our Street Walk program.
Street Walk is our frontline service that goes out into the city centre on Sunday to Thursday nights to work with homeless young people to help them with their immediate needs and ultimately get them a safe place for the night. Wanting to give back, Brad started the Hogs for Homeless ride with Ian Schubert and Nathan Hindmarsh.
Every year, the Hogs for Homeless ride raises much needed funds for Youth Off The Streets. This is the third ride, and with the support of NSW Rugby League, it has been the most successful to date. The 2015 tour had two new members, Josh Perry and Steve Menzies, who joined Brad, Ian, Nathan and Matt Cooper. Together they visited 20 towns, over 12 days, riding over 3,500kms, raising awareness about youth homelessness and raising funds for Youth Off The Streets. For example, in the space of minutes at the Corcoar sheep auction, $16,000 was raised to assist disadvantaged young people.
“With each year Hogs for Homeless tours it affects me in a way where I can see my life getting better and I feel that it’s something that will continue to do so year in, year out. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the years to come,” Brad Fittler, Ride Captain and NSW Blues Great.
