Youth Off The Streets Bankstown Outreach invites community members to come along to an open air cinema event on Thursday 16 April. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) will be screened from 6:00pm at Paul Keating Park.
Bankstown Outreach received funding Bankstown Council to bring a family and young person friendly event to Bankstown during Youth Week. The event will start at 5:00pm with free popcorn, drinks and a BBQ on offer.
The movie will begin at 6:00pm and those wishing to attend are encouraged to bring blankets and foldable chairs along to the park. This is an alcohol free event.
“Bankstown Outreach runs many different programs and recreational activities in the area. Every Tuesday and Thursday night they run Outreach at Paul Keating Park. It was nice to do something special for National Youth Week” says Father Chris Riley, CEO and Founder at Youth Off The Streets.
“Our Bankstown Outreach is at Paul Keating Park every Tuesday and Thursday night. To celebrate Australia’s youth during National Youth Week we thought it would be a great idea to bring the community together and watch a movie.”
“Bankstown Outreach is a safe place for young people to chill out with friends and engage with the community. Our team of youth workers are always there to meet their needs and this event will be no different,” he says.
Bankstown Outreach has been involved in the Bankstown community for a number of years; the programs offered at the service have achieved great success through engaging disconnected young people in the area and giving them opportunities to unlock their full potential.
Youth Off The Streets Mission:
Helping young people to discover greatness within, by engaging, supporting and providing opportunities to encourage and facilitate positive life choices.
About Youth Off The Streets:
Youth Off The Streets is a community organisation working for young people who are homeless, drug dependent and recovering from abuse. We support these young people as they work to turn their lives around and overcome immense personal traumas such as neglect and physical, psychological and emotional abuse.
Since opening in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross to a major youth specific agency providing a wide range of services offering a full continuum of care.
It is our goal that these young people will leave our care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full or part time job in hand.
